Internships

You are interested in astronomy and physics, but it is rarely discussed in school? Here, at the astronomical institute of the RUB we can give you the opportunity to do your internship.

The internship is usually done in cooperation with the Planetarium Bochum, meaning that you will spend some time there, where you will create your own planetarium show, and some time at the astronomical institute, where we help you prepare the data and images for your planetarium show. Additionally, you will have the chance to do observations with our training telescope, work with data on the computer, and experience what the typical working day looks like for an astronomer at the university.

It is however required that you bring some previous knowledge in the fields of maths and physics, so you should at least be in the 10th grade.

It would be ideal if your intership takes place in January or February, as we can only offer the cooperation with the planetarium during this time. If your internship does not take place in this timeframe, we might be able to find a solution anyway – so just contact us and ask!
