My research group uses radio telescopes around the world to study particle acceleration and magnetic fields in cosmic structures from individual galaxies through to galaxy groups and clusters.<\/p>\n<p>We study <b> multi-wavelength tracers of star formation <\/b> in galaxies of all kinds from dwarfs to the most massive galaxies, and how the <b> environment plays a role in influencing the evolution <\/b> of these galaxies. In the galaxy group and cluster regime, my group also studies the physics of different <b> particle acceleration mechanisms <\/b> that power diffuse radio emission on large scales. The synchrotron emission associated with all of these environments traces <b> cosmic ray electrons and magnetic fields <\/b> on a variety of different scales, and we use multi-wavelength data to probe nature and distribution of these non-thermal components. Beyond these more well-defined regimes, we keep our eyes open for all the weird and wonderful sources being discovered by the maturing Pathfinder and Precursor instruments for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA).<\/p>\n<p>I specialise in long-wavelength radio astronomy, with a particular focus on exploring data from the LOw-Frequency ARray (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.astron.nl\/telescopes\/lofar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LOFAR<\/a>), the Murchison Widefield Array (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mwatelescope.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MWA<\/a>), the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.csiro.au\/en\/about\/facilities-collections\/ATNF\/ASKAP-radio-telescope\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ASKAP<\/a>), and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sarao.ac.za\/gallery\/meerkat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MeerKAT<\/a> telescope in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of my own research, I am the MWA Principal Scientist, a role I have held since 2021, and a former member of the Astronomical Society of Australia (<a href=\"https:\/\/asa.astronomy.org.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ASA<\/a>) Early Career Researcher (<a href=\"https:\/\/asa-ecr.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ECR<\/a>) Chapter Steering Committee (2021 &#8211; 2023).<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=&#8220;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8220;4.17.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8220;default&#8220; custom_padding=&#8220;15px||15px||true|false&#8220; global_colors_info=&#8220;{}&#8220;][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=&#8220;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8220;4.17.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8220;default&#8220; custom_padding=&#8220;15px||15px||true|false&#8220; global_colors_info=&#8220;{}&#8220;][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Radio Astronomy Christopher J.
