Welcome to the Astronomical Institute
The Institute of Astronomy at Ruhr University Bochum brings together numerous research groups that explore the universe from various perspectives using modern methods.
Our teams investigate the origins of high-energy neutrinos, the formation and structure of galaxies, and the distribution of dark matter through gravitational lensing effects. We also address fundamental questions concerning dark matter and dark energy by analyzing data from large-scale sky surveys such as Euclid, LSST, and the Kilo-Degree Survey.
Through observations across the entire electromagnetic spectrum and an interdisciplinary approach, we contribute to a deeper understanding of the origin and evolution of the universe.
